Chapter 5 Preview - JFK Autopsy: Historical Fiction Behind America’s Greatest Fairy Tale

Dr. Cyril Wecht, the 87-year-old forensic pathologist and medical author who reviewed the autopsy evidence locked away in the National Archives, is unabashedly critical of the post-mortem performed on President Kennedy.

Famed forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht calls the JFK autopsy “salacious.”

And that’s about the nicest thing he has to say about one of the most famous and controversial autopsies ever undertaken.

In an in-depth interview with the author of Through The ‘Oswald’ Window, Dr. Wecht held back no punches when it comes to the post-mortem examination performed on the assassinated 35th President of the United States.

The term ‘Cover-Up’ should always be used cautiously, but how else are we to explain the following?

  • Military Take Over – Under Texas state law, since assassinating a President was not a federal crime, an autopsy should have been performed on JFK by ‘forensic’ pathologists at the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office.

Instead, the President’s body was forcibly removed from Dallas County officials and was taken to the Bethesda Naval Hospital where a military autopsy was conducted.

  • Unqualified Pathology Surgeons – The autopsy on President Kennedy was performed by three pathologists who had never before executed an autopsy involving death by gunshots.
  • Following Orders – On several occasions, the autopsy doctors were ordered by attending military superiors to not perform routine procedures, such as an internal examination of JFK’s back wound.
  • Evidence Denied – Although photos and x-rays were taken of the President’s body, as well as tissue and organ slides, the doctors were not allowed to view this evidence before writing up the official autopsy report.
  • Missing Brain – When a person dies by one or more gunshots to the head, a customary procedure is to remove the brain, preserve and examine it in the days following the autopsy.

This vital process was not done because President Kennedy’s brain suddenly went missing and has never been found.

  • Mysteriously Moving Wounds – The wounds observed on President Kennedy’s body do not match the Warren Report’s conclusions about the wounds sustained by JFK or the corresponding shots fired.

For instance, more than 12 doctors, nurses and trauma room attendants reported seeing a large gaping wound at the right rear of the President’s skull, indicating a shot from the right-front.

However, in place of autopsy photos and x-rays, artistic drawings were used to show a small bullet entry wound in the crown area of the skull and a large exit wound at the side of the head above the right ear.

In Chapters 5 and 10, Dr. Wecht outlines his expert JFK autopsy findings, leaving us with one critical question – Who wanted the JFK assassination attributed to a lone nut named Lee Harvey Oswald?
